Teri Gillespie - The Spirit of Nature

Teri's paintings convey an immediate sense of her love and respect for the animals and landscapes that fill the world around her.  Whether a fleeting glimpse of a wild encounter or a portrait of a domestic friend, her aim is to capture the true essence, beauty and spirit she sees in each subject portrayed.

Teri's love for animals and the outdoors has prevailed since childhood.  She grew up in a small town in southeastern Michigan where she stepped from her back door straight into the fields and woods of the countryside.  Hours spent observing the life she found there fed her creative spirit.  Her drawing skills grew as she filled her childhood sketchbooks.

After obtaining her basic art skills in college, Teri chose to pursue her painting instruction in selected workshops that enhanced her love of Traditional Realism and continues to study and compare information with other artists today.

For the span of her painting career, Teri has found success in shows such as The Southeastern Wildlife Expo, Charleston, SC, The Plantation Wildlife Art Festival, Thomasville, GA, The American Academy of Equine Artists, Lexington, KY and Art Show at the Dog Show, Topeka, KS.  Her work has appeared on the covers of The Retriever Journal and The Field Trial magazines, and her image "Evening Shadow" was included in the Duck's Unlimited clothing line.

Over the years, Teri's work has evolved into her classic and recognizable style that is loved by collectors from across the country.  Now able to devote full time to her passion, her goal remains consistent; to Master her craft.  "I'll spend my lifetime perfecting knowledge of my chosen subjects and my skills with materials bringing them together into a painting that is fine and true."

Teri works from her home studio in Maple City, Michigan, where her focus will remain on animal and landscape paintings as she finds peace from and a spiritual connection to both.  She is dedicated to a lifetime pursuit of her craft and her ability to bring life and magic to paint and canvas.
