Martha Elchert
Martha Elchert started painting as a grade schooler in Ohio. As an oil painter she majored in art at Heidelberg College, Ohio and worked in advertising design. Later she studied watercolor at San Juan College, New Mexico and Snow College, Utah. She has taken many watercolor workshops from internationally renowned watercolor artists.
“Today I paint exclusively in watercolor both in studio and en Plein air. I love how the colors mingle on the page and those surprises that are inherent to watercolor always make me smile! Plein air painting is the perfect pairing of my passion for watercolor and my love of the outdoors. My best compliment is when people tell me my paintings make them happy!”
Martha is grateful to have been juried into regional and National shows. She has received many awards for her watercolors. Her paintings are held in corporate and private collections including Gateway Museum in Farmington, NM. She is a member of the Michigan Watercolor Society, board member of Great Lakes Plein air Painters Association and a Signature Member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society. She is also a member of Urban Sketchers Worldwide and is an avid watercolor travel journalist.
