Introduction to Intermediate Wheel throwing with Lani Hoenscheid-Smith
Mondays and Wednesdays 6/17 - 7/17, 2024 from 9:30am - 11:30pm
Open to adults and teens with some background in wheel throwing.
This is a five week pottery class, meeting twice a week for a total of 10 sessions. You will learn the basics of the pottery wheel: throwing process, materials, tools, and techniques. Student can expect to leave with several pieces. Direct instruction will be given on bowls, mugs, and plates.
Students will be required to purchase clay from the association office, which includes the cost for clay, glazes, and firing. The clay cost $95 for 25lbs of clay and covers firings and glazes.
Students can bring their own tools or use what is available in the clay studio.
Lani Hoenscheid Smith has used her Certification in Arts Education in many ways since receiveing it from Grand Valley State University. In addition to teaching pottery privately for over 20 years, she has taught students at Blue Lakes Fine Arts Camp as well as both Leland and St. Mary’s schools. She has also put her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Art Therapy to use over the years. Her goal is to help others learn and grow through the arts.
