With 20 years of experience teaching art at Northport Public School, Jen Evans brings a wealth of knowledge and creativity to the classroom. Raised in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, the natural beauty of AuTrain, Munising, and Marquette shaped her artistic perspective. It is in the Upper Peninsula she fell in love with the natural world. Her parents fostered a sense of adventure within her at an early age and her father, also a talented artist, taught her unique and creative art lessons over her formative years.
While completing her student teaching in New Zealand, Jen discovered a passion for travel and connecting with other artistic and adventurous individuals. This experience ignited a lifelong journey of exploring the world and experiencing the joy of discovering new things. From VW Bus restorations to living out of the back of her pickup while traveling the country, she is always creating with her hands, smiling, and seizing each day.
Evans' teaching philosophy is rooted in inspiring students to embrace new techniques to tap into their creativity and drawing from the world around them to find their artistic voice.
